When is a CPSR required?

If you want to sell a cosmetic product in the UK or EU, you must have a Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR) completed by a suitably qualified safety assessor before placing it on the market.

This applies to a wide range of products, including skincare, soaps, shampoos, moisturisers, facial oils, body butters, lip balms, bath products and massage oils.

For aromatherapy businesses, this can include essential oil-based products intended for use on the skin, such as aromatherapy massage oils, body oils, bath oils, balms and salves.

Products such as room sprays, pillow mists and reed diffusers generally fall under different regulations, depending on their intended use and formulation.

How to obtain a CPSR

We work with specialist partners to help you obtain a CPSR for cosmetic formulations containing up to 25 ingredients.

To enquire about a CPSR for your product, email katealmostedible@gmail.com with details of your formulation. Having your ingredient list and percentages ready will help get the process started.

Please note that a CPSR is specific to the formulation being assessed. Changes to your ingredients or their concentrations may require the assessment to be reviewed.
